What is the Calorie Calculator or TDEE Calculator?
Calorie Calculator or TDEE Calculator gives you an estimate of the total daily calorie needs depending on the level of physical activity. TDEE stands for Total Daily Energy Expenditure it considers your basal metabolic rate and your activity level to give you the estimated calorie needs per day.
Formula for TDEE is:
TDEE = BMR × Activity Level
Where Activity level can be as following:
Sedentary (little or no exerice)
Lightly Exercise (1-3 days/week)
Moderate Exercise (3-5 days/week)
Very Active (hard exercise / 6-7 days/week)
Extremely Active (very intense exercise daily and physical job)
The BMR or Basal Metabolic Rate, gives you an approximate number of calories per day your body needs at rest to maintain the basic physiological functions like breathing, circulation, etc. It is calculated based on age, gender, weight, and height, considering your body is totally at rest without any physical activity.
Formulas used for BMR calculation based on the Mifflin-St Jeor equation:
For Men:
BMR = (10 × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) – (5 × age in years) + 5
For Women:
BMR = (10  × weight in kg) + (6.25 × height in cm) – (5 × age in years) – 161
